Text Box: Emma Panting and Louise Petley opened Abacus Day Nursery on October 16th, 1994. This month we will be celebrating our 13th birthday. We have become an established childcare provider in Billericay over this time, providing full and part-time day care for children aged 0-5 years. Since opening, we have Text Box: seen hundreds of children pass through our doors and it has been a pleasure to care for so many. We still see some of our first intake, who are now in the middle years of secondary school! Following the move to Orchard Avenue we would like to thank everyone for being so understanding. It was a difficult Text Box: decision to close our other Nursery after 13 years, but due to issues with the building and the landlord it was no longer an option for us to continue trading from the premises. We are proud to say that the children that attend Abacus are happy little people who are confident and sociable and are a pleasure to work with. Text Box: We purchased 16 Orchard Avenue in Summer 2004 and since this time we have added a conservatory and new entrance porch with our name taking pride of place. In October the garden will be surfaced with ‘Wet-Pour’ which is a soft play surface. This will enhance the safety of the play area and enable us to use the garden all year around. Text Box: A new computer is on order from Essex County Council, to introduce children to technology and enhance their learning experiences. All our staff are looking great in their new uniforms too! You may have also noticed a new boiler and heating system being installed enabling us to easily maintain and control a constant temperature within the nursery. Text Box: You may not see these people that work behind the scenes, but we employ cleaners and gardeners and all laundry is sent out to a local dry cleaner for cleaning.
